Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University field hockey team regrouped with a 3-0 shutout of Franklin Pierce to snap a five-game losing streak at Motamed Field on Tuesday. The Panthers carried a 1-0 lead into halftime and added two goals in the second half to put the Ravens away and improve to 5-6 overall and 2-1 in Northeast-10 Conference play. Franklin Pierce falls to 3-6 overall and 1-1 in league play.

Julianne Gerbino put Adelphi up 1-0 in the 28th minute with a bullet to the back of the cage from 10 yards out off a pass by junior

Erin Grekin extended the lead early in the second half with a sharp deflection off a shot by classmate
Jeanette Heimerle. Cabral iced the contest by knocking a bouncing ball into the bottom left corner of the cage with 46 seconds to play.
The persistent Adelphi offense rattled off 25 shots to the Ravens' eight, and held a 10-4 edge over Franklin Pierce in the contest.

Lucia Vigliotti earned her second shutout of the season while making three saves, and Franklin Pierce goalie Brittany Nyzio stopped 11 shots in the setback.
Adelphi plays its second-to-last home game when the Panthers host Southern Connecticut State for an NE-10 contest on Tuesday, October 4 at 7 p.m.
