Waltham, MA - The women's field hockey team visted the Falcons of Bentley University earlier this afternoon in a Northeast-10 matchup. Bentley went ahead on a pair of first half goals and then added a third late in the game while the Panther's offense struggled and were kept scoreless, dropping the game, 3-0. With the loss, Adelphi slips to 4-5, 1-1 NE-10 while the Falcons move to 4-4, 2-0 NE-10.
Nicole Dion put Bentley on the board first, just 2:45 into the game on a deflected shot off of a penalty corner. Teammate Stephanie Sideris was credited with the assists. The duo struck again 24 minutes later, notching Bentley's second goal of the game off of a penalty corner deflection.
The Panthers struggled to get their offense going, only managing to get one shot during the first half and having just a single penalty corner while Bently rattled off ten shots and had six corners.
In the second half, Adelphi showed signs of life and began to play more agressive on the offensive end, taking five shots and having as many penalty corners. However, Bentley continued to play strong and furthered their lead in the 57th minute courtesy of a Hannah Gerry goal. Despite efforts to close the gap, the deficit proved to be insurmountable as they would fall, 3-0.
Lucia Vigliotti made eight saves in the loss while
Julianne Gerbino recorded the only shot on goal for the Panthers.
