Matt Dispensa was named the new Sports Information Director at Adelphi University as announced today, July 25, 2011 by Assistant Vice President/Director of Athletics, Robert E. Hartwell. He rejoins the Panther athletic program after five years as a student-athlete.
Dispensa, a former student-athlete and standout runner on the cross country and track and field teams, comes back to Adelphi after spending 15 months as the Sports Information Director at Division III Hunter College. While there, he oversaw and maintained the entire athletic website and was the primary contact for the Hawk's 18 sports.
Additionally, he promoted all athletic events and contests, worked with the City University of New York Athletic Conference as well as the NCAA, was responsible for a support staff consisting of one intern and one student worker, was involved with game day management, event coordination, and worked closely with the Athletic Director and Associate Athletic Director in departmental planning and assessment.
In January of 2008, he graduated from Adelphi University with a degree in business management and went on to obtain his MBA in business management in the spring of 2009. In the classroom, Dispensa boasted a 3.6 grade point average as an undergrad and held a 3.85 graduate GPA. During his time as a student, he worked in the Athletic Media Relations department and became a Graduate Assistant for Sports Information during his final year.
Dispensa currently resides in College Point, N.Y.
