Garden City, N.Y. - The #6 Adelphi University softball team played host to #7 LeMoyne College in the first round of the Northeast-10 Playoffs on Tuesday, May 3. The Panthers held the Dolphins scoreless for seven innings and managed to get one run across in the bottom of the seventh, picking up the win, 1-0. With the win Adelphi improves to 28-23, while LeMoyne falls to 18-21-1.

Leighann Bell threw seven innings of sterling scoreless softball, holding the Dolphins to just five hits, striking out four and walking none, to keep the Panthers in the game and eventually pick up her 15th win of the season.

Adelphi eventually won the game in the bottom of the seventh, putting the first two runners of the inning, Emily Dorko and Amy Ogden, on base with bunts. Both runners then advanced on a wild pitch and Shay Craig was intentionally walked, loading the bases for Deandra Leo. Leo sent a fly into the outfield, where it dropped in thanks to a LeMoyne miscue, giving the Panthers a 1-0 win.

The Panthers mustered just three hits in the win, two coming off the bast of Dorko who was 2-3 with one run scored, while Ogden picked up the other hit.

Adelphi will return to action on Friday, May 6 when they take on #3 Merrimack in the first round of the double elimination portion of the tournament.
