No. 5 Men's Lacrosse Picks Up 13-3 Win Over Franklin Pierce

The No. 5 Adelphi University men's lacrosse team traveled to Rindge, N.H. this afternoon to take on Franklin Pierce University. The Panthers took a 5-1 halftime lead and turned it into a 13-3 victory. Adelphi improves to 12-2 and 8-1 in the NE-10, while Franklin Pierce falls to 3-9 and 1-8.

For the Panthers, junior Bryan Hall scored three goals and added two assists, while sophomore Michael Rossi contributed two goals and one assist. Junior Eric Janssen stopped six shots in 45 minutes of action.

The Panthers got on the board early and scored the only two goals of the peiord. The first came from Hall which was assisted by classmate Doug Quednau. Junior Joe Vitale would score the second goal with just under five minutes left in the period.

Hall and Rossi would open the second period with two early goals, extending Adelphi's lead to 4-0. Nate Wood would get the Ravens on the board with a late goal, only to have Vitale find the back of the net again, sending Adelphi into the locker rooms with a 5-1 advantage.

The third period was all Adelphi as the Panthers scored seven of the eight combined goals. Junior Timothy Aiello scored two of the seven goals, while classmate Kieran Riegel and Rossi each added a goal and an assist in the frame.

Entering the final period of play, Adelphi had a comfortable 10-goal lead, 12-2. Pierce would get a score from Baxter Sukdolak to make the score 12-3, but graduate student Tommy Susko would net his 35th goal of the season which came from junior Danny Blau with 3:24 left in regulation.

For the Ravens, Sukdolak and Wood each scored a goal in the loss, while Tim Izzo and Shea Campbell combined to stop 13 shots.

The Panthers will now enter the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament as the #2 seed and will await their opponent.
