Softball Grounds Stonehill in Game One, Game Two Postponed

Easton, MA - The Adelphi University softball team traveled north to Easton, Massachusetts on Thursday, April 27 to take on Northeast-10 rival Stonehill College. Leighann Bell pitched the Panthers to their ninth straight win, 3-1 in game one and game two was postponed due to rain. With the win Adelphi improves to 25-20 overall and 17-8 in the NE-10.

Bell tossed seven sterling innings to pick lead Adelphi to the 3-1 victory, allowing six hits, one run and striking out seven. The win was Bell's 13th of the season and the Panthers ninth in a row.

Adelphi got on the board in the top of the second, with Amanda Krier scoring the Panthers first run of the game on a Jeanine Leo single. Maria Canino drove home Leo for the second run with a single of her own. Leo tacked on the third and final Adelphi run with a solo bomb down the right field line.

Stonehill scored their only run of the game on a home run of their own in the bottom of the seventh, giving Adelphi a 3-1 victory.

Leo led the Panthers, going 3-3 with two RBI and two runs scored, while Amy Ogden also slugged out two hits on the day.

The Panthers return to action on Friday, April 29 when they complete their doubleheader with Stonehill at 3:00 pm.
