Women's Lacrosse Slays the Purple Knights, 24-2

Colchester, VT - The Adelphi University women's lacrosse team traveled to Colchester, Vermont to take on Saint Michael's College in a Northeast-10 contest on Saturday, April 16. The Panthers jumped out to a 14-2 lead on the way to a 24-2 victory, improving to 10-0 overall and 7-0 in the NE-10.

Claire Peterson led the attack as she eclipsed the 60-assist mark for the season and had a game-high 12 points on five goals and seven assists. Erica Devito led all players with seven goals, and Devan Crimi scored five points on three goals and two helpers. Elizabeth Fey also had a solid day with four points on three assists and one goal.

Defensively, Adelphi was led by Katelynn Ciaci's two caused turnovers and two ground balls, while both Marisa Mills and Demmianne Cook had four draw controls. Adelphi goalie Frankie Caridi made four saves and allowed just two goals in her 10th win of the season.

Adelphi rushed out to a 7-0 lead in the first four minutes of play, and extended its lead to 14-2 at the half. The Panthers' defense crunched down in the second period and did not allow Saint Michael's to attempt a shot on goal after halftime. A 10-goal second half burst propelled Adelphi to its second straight 24-goal performance and its ninth game with at least 20 goals this season.

The Panthers out shot St. Michael's, 52-8, grabbed more ground balls, 22-14 and had six more draw controls, 17-11.

Adelphi returns to action on Sunday, April 17 when they travel to Rindge, New Hampshire to take on Franklin Pierce at noon.
