Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi University senior Robert Nixon (Welland, Ontario) and junior Claire Petersen have been named Adelphi University Athletes of The Week for the week of April 4, 2011.

In his only start of last week, a 5-1 victory in game one of a doubleheader against Merrimack College, Nixon threw a no-hitter with nine strikeouts and three walks and was named Northeast-10 Pitcher of the Week and NCBWA East Region Pitcher of the Week.

On the season, Nixon has posted a 4-1 record with a 0.80 earned run average. In 45 innings of work, the right-hander has struck out 48 batters and tossed three complete games.

Nixon and the Panthers return to action tomorrow, April 5, when they host American International College at 3:30 p.m.

For the second week in a row, Petersen set two single-game school records, breaking her own marks for points and assists. In Adelphi's 25-5 victory over Merrimack, she had a career high 14 points and 10 assists, both single game school records. She also added four goals in the win.

Adelphi returns to action on Wednesday, April 6 when they travel to Springfield, Massachusetts to take on Northeast-10 rival American International College.
