The Adelphi University women's tennis team took on Merrimack College in a conference match yesterday in Rye, New Hampshire. Adelphi swept doubles action and held on for a 7-2 victory. The Panthers improve to 6-0 and 2-0 in the NE-10, while Merrimack drops to 2-2 and 1-1.
The women went 3-0 in doubles play over the Warriors. Sophomore Maria Toft and senior Alda Ribeiro crusied to an 8-0 victory at top-flight, while sophomore Michelle Gurda and sophomore Samra Redzematovic earned an 8-3 victory at #2 doubles. Senior Megan Margino and junior Carolyn Smith closed out doubles play with an 8-4 victory.
Adelphi also started out with three stragith singles victories from Toft, Ribeiro, and freshman Gaby Adia. Freshman Sophie Lanter won her match at #6 singles, 8-3.
The Panthers return to action on Monday, March 14 when they take on Bentley University in Orlando, Florida.
