The Adelphi University men's lacrosse team picked up a non-conference win over Notre Dame de Namur this afternoon, 13-6. The Panthers scored six first period goals en route to the victory. Adelphi improves to 1-1, while Notre Dame de Namur falls to 2-6.
For the Panthers, junior Danny Blau handed out three assists and scored two goals, while junior Shane Wynn scored four goals with one assist. Junior Eric Janssen recorded 13 saves in the win.
Graduate student Tommy Susko got the Panthers on the board early with a score which was then followed by a Wynn score shorty after. NDNU would then answer with a man-up goal from Jacob Hayashi. After the Argonauts evened the score at 2-2, Adelphi would get four goals from four different players to take a 6-2 lead.
The second period had just one goal which came from NDNU's Kevin Nguyen to cut Adelphi's lead to 6-3 headed into the half.
Blau would open the second half with a score, one of four Adelphi goals in the period. Wynn would add two of his four goals in the third period and Adelphi took a 10-4 lead into the final period of play.
With Adelphi taking a comfortable six-goal lead into the fourth period, the Panthers would score the first two goals of the period to put the game completely out of reach with goals from sophomore Connor McCann and junior Anthony Caponi.
For the Argonauts, six different players each scored one goal, while Hunter Adams set aside five shots in defeat.
The Panthers return to action on Monday, March 14 when they take on Dominican (CA) University at 1:00 p.m. ET.
