Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi University sophomore Andrew Coelho (Wantagh, N.Y.) and freshman Jessica Kitrys (Parlin, NJ) have been named Adelphi Athletes of The Week for the week of February 14, 2011.

Coelho placed 12th overall in the 5000 meter run, posting a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 14:34.58. He also broke the 27 year old previous AU record of 14:38 set by Jesse McCutchen back in 1983.

He will return to the track on Thursday, February 17 when the Panthers travel to Boston, Massachusetts to compete in the Northeast-10 Championship.

Kitrys was Adelphi's strongest player in two losses last week, averaging 13 points, six rebounds and two assists. In a 54-46 home loss to St. Rose, Kitrys has 14 points and six rebounds and had a similar line of 12 points and six rebounds in a road loss to Assumption.

Adelphi returns to action on Wednesday, February 16 when they travel to New Haven, Connecticut to take on Southern Connecticut State University.
