Swimmings Takes Two at Queens

The Panthers topped both Queens College and Baruch College in a tri-match.

The Adelphi University swim team traveled to Flushing, New York to take on Queens College and Baruch College in a tri-match. Both teams left the campus of Queens with two wins, as the women topped the host Knights, 63-42 and Baruch, 54-41 and the men countered with wins of 69-43 over Queens and 55-45 over Baruch.

Charlotte Davies and Ana Galesic were the only individual winners on the women's side. Davies touched the wall first in the 1,000 yard freestyle, courtesy of a time of 11:43.53, while Galesic out sprinted the field in the 100 yard freestyle, breaking 60 with an effort of 58.22.

Davies was a part of Adelphi's only other event victory, teaming with Jaclyn Dodenhoff, Amanda Steinfeld and Samantha Spacone in the 200 yard freestyle relay to out distance the field in 1:50.50.

Kyle Jones and Zach Terzano paced the men's team, claiming two individual victories each. Jones finished first in the 1,000 yard freestyle with a clocking of 10:35.02 and followed that up with a 4:24.10 effort in the 400 individual medley. Terzano dipped under 1:50 in the 200 yard freestyle, getting to the wall first in a time of 1:49.57 and came back later in the meet to claim top honors in the 100 yard backstroke with a 56.84 showing.

Corey McKee and Steve Gromling also picked up first place finishes, McKee in the 100 yard butterfly, with a time of 52.94 and Gromling in the 100 yard breaststroke, 1:01.77. McKee and Gromling joined Jones and Terzano to earn first place in the 200 yard medley relay, turning in a time of 1:39.90.

Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, December 10 when they play host to William Paterson University at 1:00 pm.
