Swimming Falls to Montclair State

The men dropped a 153-127 decision, while the women fell, 155-118.

Charlotte Davies won both distance swims for Adelphi.
The Adelphi University swim team traveled to Montclair, New Jersey on Saturday, November 5 to take on Montclair State University. The men dropped a close, 153-127 decision, while the women fell, 155-118. With the loss both the men and women suffered their first losses of the season, slipping to 2-1 overall.

The women were led by Gabrielle Terzano and Charlotte Davies, who each claimed two individual first place finishes. Terzano out distanced the field in both the 200 butterfly (2:28.72) and the 200 backstroke (2:20.12), while Davies captured first in both distance swims, the 1000 yard freestyle (11:52.07) and the 500 yard freestyle (5:49.96). Brittany Stanford captured the Panthers only other individual first, out touching the competition in the 100 yard breaststroke in a time of 1:13.51.

Zach Terzano and Kyle Jones led the men's team, as both swimmers claimed three individual victories. Terzano was tops in the 100 yard backstroke (57.61), the 100 yard freestyle (49.30) and the 100 yard butterfly (55.45), while Jones took top honors in the 200 yard butterfly (2:04.90), the 200 yard breaststroke (2:18.00) and the 200 yard individual medley (2:06.10).

Michael Mayer was the only other Panther to find his way to the wall first in an individual event, taking first in the 200 yard freestyle (1:50.11) and the 200 yard freestyle (5:05.31). Adelphi also captured both relay titles as William Gerard, Steve Gromling, Karim Harris and Mayer combined to take first in the 200 yard medley relay (1:46.74) and Mayer, Gromling, Jones and Terzano teamed up to win the 400 yard freestyle relay in a time of 3:20.13.

Adelphi hops back in the pool on Tuesday, November 8 when they play host to the College at Old Westbury at 6:00 pm in Garden City, New York.
