Garden City, N.Y. –
The Adelphi University women's basketball team fell 64-59 versus C.W. Post in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon at the Center for Recreation and Sport. The Brown and Gold trailed 30-20 at the half and closed the gap late, but could not complete the rally. The Panthers drop to 1-2 overall, while the Pioneers move to 3-1 on the season.

For the Panthers, senior Amanda Campusano led the way with 18 points, 16 of which came in the second half. Jessica Kitrys netted 16 points and a team-high six rebounds, while Kelly Mannix scored all 12 of her points during the second-half surge.

For the Pioneers, Felicia Joyner led all players with 23 points and went 3-for-3 from behind the arc, while Ashley Caggiano had 10 points, five rebounds and three assists.

Sharp free throw shooting kept Adelphi afloat in the first period as the Panthers went 8-for-10 from the foul line, and Campusano and Mannix sparked the offensive crusade in the second half. Adelphi could not find an answer for Joyner, however, who went 5-for-9 from the field including three 3-pointers for 15 points in the second half.

A last-minute steal and layup by Jenna Halaby made it brought Adelphi within four points in the final moments, but the Panthers were forced to foul and send the Pioneers to the line. C.W. Post hit 6-of-9 free throws which proved essential to holding the lead down the stretch.

Adelphi returns to NE-10 play on Tuesday, November 22, when the Panthers head to New Haven for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
