Springfield, Mass. - The Adelphi University field hockey team dropped a 2-1 Northeast-10 Conference contest at 10th-ranked American International College on Tuesday evening. Senior
Jeanette Heimerle notched a goal early in the second half to tie the game at 1-1, but the Yellow Jackets had a quick answer and clinced a berth to the NE-10 Tournament by way Linsey Fernandes goal. The Panthers drop to 6-11 overall and 3-6 in conference play, while AIC improves to 10-6 and 5-3 in the league.
The Yellow Jackets took an early lead after Lisa Duckles found the back of the cage following a penalty corner. AIC would hold on to the lead well into the second half, but Heimerle knotted the contest in the 43rd minute with her team-best ninth goal of the season. The Panthers could not hold on, however, and within six minutes the Yellow Jackets reclaimed the lead on a Fernandes goal that proved to be the game-winner.

Lucia Vigliotti made eight saves for the Panthers, but AIC's Kim Steiner matched Vigliotti save for save and helped the Yellow Jackets hang on for the win despite trailing Adelphi 15-14 in the shot column.
The Panthers wrap up the regular season on the road against Merrimack on Sunday at 12 p.m.
