Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi University junior Mychael Fabio (Huntington, N.Y.) and senior Ashley Caiafa (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) have been named Adelphi Athletes of The Week for the week of January 10, 2011.

Fabio opened up his 2011 season on Friday, January 7 at the Nassau Metro Coaches Invitational at the Armory Track and Field Center in New York, New York. He competed in the 500 meter dash, posting a personal best of 1:02.52. His time also won the event and is currently the best time in the Northeast-10 by over a full second.

The Panthers return to action on Friday, January 14 when they travel back to the Armory Track and Field Center to compete in the NYC Gotham Cup.

Caiafa continued her strong play, despite two Panther losses, averaging 17.5 points, seven rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game. Her best game of the week came in a 68-58 loss to St. Anselm, scoring 20 points, pulling down eight rebounds and collecting two assists and two steals.

Adelphi returns to the hardwood on Wednesday, January 13 when they travel to Lowell, Massachusetts for a 5:30 pm meeting with the Riverhawks.
