Men's Tennis Falls In Season Opener To Chestnut Hill, 5-4

The Adelphi University men's tennis team traveled to take on Chestnut Hill College on Saturday afternoon in its first match of the season. Despite taking two out of three in doubles play, the Panthers came up short, 5-4. AU is now 0-1, while Chestnut Hill is 1-0.

The Panthers came out strong taking two out of three in doubles play to take a 2-1 lead over Chestnut Hill. Senior Anton Voynov and graduate student Sebastian Nieves won at top-flight doubles, 8-5.

In singles play, Voynov (6-1, 6-3) and sophomore Adrish Tewarie (6-4, 4-6, 10-4) collected the lone Panther wins at #2 and #6 singles, respectively.

The Panthers return to action on Sunday, September 19 when they host conference opponent Franklin Pierce University at 3:30 p.m.
