Game One|Game Two

Junior Deandra Leo drove in five of Adelphi's 10 runs in game two as the Panthers swept the Riverhawks of UMass-Lowell, 9-1, 10-3, in a conference doubleheader this afternoon at Riverview Field. With the wins, the Panthers improve to 30-22 and and 18-12 in league play to secure home field advantage in the first round of the Northeast-10 Tournament. The Riverhawks fall to 23-26 and 15-15 in the conference to also secure a playoff spot.
Game One
The Riverhawks took the early lead with a solo homerun by Boris in the second inning. The Panthers knotted the score in the top of the fourth inning as junior Shay Craig reached on a fielder's choice before scoring on an error by second base. Freshman Heather Salerno scored the game-winning run, unearned on a SAC fly by Emily Dorko. Adelphi racked up seven more runs, on five hits in the sixth inning to put the game out of reach for UMass-Lowell. Seniors Christine Robinson and Katie Brophy, each acounted for two RBI, with Craig's RBI double scoring Brophy for the final run of the game.
Robinson (12-10) did double duty, going the distance on the mound, giving up just three hits with three strikeouts.
Adelphi had nine runs on seven hits with no errors. UMass-Lowell had one run on three hits with five errors.
Game Two
Junior Rochelle Noren started off with a single then stole second and third before rounding home plate on a RBI single by Brophy. Adelphi added four more runs in the third, led by Leo's homerun to score Craig.
The Riverhawks challenged in the bottom of the third, closing to within one, 4-3. However, the Panthers opened the gap in the fourth, starting off with a Craig SAC fly to score Dorko, followed by a two run double by senior Ashley Vinti. Vinti followed up with a single in the seventh inning, driving in Brophy and Noren to cap the game, 10-3.
Junior Leighann Bell (15-9) recorded the seven-hitter win, fanning five.
Adelphi had 10 runs on 14 hits with one error. UMass-Lowell had three runs on seven hits with one error.
The Panthers are back in action on Friday, May 7, as they secure the #4 spot in the double-elimination Northeast-10 Tournament. They will take on the winner of the #8 UMass-Lowell/#5 Assumption match-up, hosted by the University of New Haven.
