The Adelphi University men's lacrosse team traveled to Pleasantville, New York on Wednesday, April 28 for a Northeast-10 Conference contest with Pace University. The Panthers jumped on the Setters, early, scoring the first four goals on the way to a 13-9 victory. With the win Adelphi pushes their win streak to five games, improving to 8-4 overall and 6-3 in conference play, while Pace falls to 6-6 overall and 5-4.
Adelphi set the tone early, as Connor McCann scored the first two Panther goals, the first coming less then a minute into the action. Chris Aiello and Danny Blau made the score, 4-0 half way through the period and Pace did not get on the board until the nine second mark in the first quarter.
The Panthers traded goals with the Setters in the second, as each team scored three times in the period. Jonathan Baron, Kevin Kemp and Aiello notched tallies for Adelphi in the quarter as the Panthers took a 7-4 edge into the half.
Aiello then opened the scoring two minutes into the third quarter, but Pace ripped off two straight to pull within two goals, 8-6 with five minutes left. However, Adelphi responded with three goals in a span of 2:08 to put the game out of reach at 11-6 heading into the fourth quarter that saw Adelphi collect a 13-9 win.
Devin Schneiderbauer made nine saves in the win, as Adelphi and Pace were even with 34 shots each. However, the Panthers held a 46-36 edge in ground balls and a 14-12 advantage in face-offs.
The Panthers will close out the regular season on Saturday, May 1 when they play host to Bentley College at 7:00 pm.
