Baseball Sufferes Second Straight 3-1 Loss To Pace

The Adelphi University baseball team traveled to Pace University to face the Setters for the second straight day. Pace held a 2-1 lead after the third inning and held on for the victory, 3-1. Pace improves to 15-25 and 8-16 in the Northeast-10, while Adelphi falls to 29-14 and 15-9.

For the Panthers, sophomore Justin Farnum went 2-for-3, while senior Anthony Anzalone went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Junior Jonathan Gonzalez suffered the loss, going seven innings, giving up nine hits and striking out seven.

Adelphi got on the board first in the top of the third when Anzalone drove in junior Trevor Thorstensen with an RBI single up the middle. Pace would come back with two runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 2-1 lead.

In the bottom of the seventh inning and the score still 2-1, Kenny Wright sent a RBI double through the right side to give the Setters a two-run lead.

For the Setters, Christopher Spatkowski finished 3-for-4, while both Wright and Robert Horn went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Michael Franza got the win on the mound, throwing five innings, giving up one earned and fanning four.

The Panthers return to action tomorrow, April 29 when they host Wilmington University (DE) in their final regular season home game at 3:30 p.m.
