Six-Goal Second Quarter Lifts Men's Lacrosse Past Franklin Pierce, 13-4

The Adelphi University men's lacrosse team hosted the Ravens of Franklin Pierce University this afternoon in a Northeast-10 Conference contest. The Panthers used a six-goal second quarter en route to the win, 13-4. Adelphi now improves to 7-4 and 5-3, while Franklin Pierce falls to 4-7 and 1-7.

For the Panthers, graduate student Jonathan Baron had eight points on seven goals and one assist, while sophomore Danny Blau handed out four assists. Senior Devin Schneiderbauer recorded eight saves in the win.

The Panthers scored the first two goals of the game in the first quarter with the first coming from Baron, which was assisted by Blau. Senior William Bushell would then set up freshman Chris Aiello for the score with 6:56 left in the quarter. Jimmy McInnis would find Nate Wood late in the first to cut the Panther lead in half.

Adelphi came out in the second period and dominated the Ravens, scoring six unanswered goals. Baron scored the first five of the six goals, while Blau handed out two of his four helpers in the quarter.

After a John Scanlon goal with 5:29 left in the third quarter, Aiello and Baron would find the back of the net to give AU a seven-goal lead headed into the final quarter, 9-2.

Bushell found Baron early in the fourth to give the Panthers a commanding 10-2 lead. The Ravens would answer with back-to-back goals from Brandon Cahill and Wood, but it wasn't nearly enough as Adelphi ended the game with three unanswered scores.

The Panthers held the advantage in ground balls (44-36), face-offs (12-20), and shots (29-20).

For the Ravens, Wood netted two goals, while Cahill added a goal and an assist. Shea Campbell set aside 10 shots in defeat.

The Panthers return to action on Wednesday, April 28 when they travel to take on Pace University at 3:00 p.m.
