Game One|Game Two

The Adelphi University softball team hosted Stonehill College this afternoon on senior day in a Northeast-10 conference doubleheader. After taking the opener, 5-2, the Panthers' rally came up short in game two falling, 4-2. With the split, Adelphi goes to 23-21 on the year, 11-11 in NE-10 play, while Stonehill increases their record to 17-13-1 on the season, 12-8 in league play.
Game One
The Panthers were fueled by their bats racking up 12 hits for the 5-2 victory over Stonehill.
Junior Shay Craig led Adelphi batting 2-for-3 with 2 RBI and one run scored. Four other Panthers also collected two hits a piece as they were seniors Rochelle Noren, Katie Brophy, and freshmen Amy Ogden and Jeanine Leo.
Adelphi took the lead in the third inning as Craig reached base on a RBI fielder's choice bunt scoring Noren tying the game at 1-1. The Panthers captured the lead on an Ogden RBI double to left-center scoring Craig.
Adelphi plated three runs in the fourth inning to stretch their lead to 5-1. Junior Deandra Leo smashed a double to left-center that hit the top of the wall, missing a solo homerun by inches to leadoff the inning. Jeanine Leo roped a double to center scoring sophomore pinch-runner Jacqueline Bellairs. After Leo scored on a RBI sacrifice fly by Brophy, Craig's RBI single to center scored Noren to make it a 5-1 affair.
The Skyhawks plated a run across in the sixth as Kathleen Abarr RBI's single brought home Kristen Clark cutting Adelphi's lead to 5-2. Stonehill looked for more, however, junior pitcher Leighann Bell induced Ashley Langlois into a fielder's choice and fanned Lindsay Bock looking ending the inning.
Nicole Eisenmann led the way for Stonehill batting 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored.
Junior Leighann Bell earned the victory allowing two earned runs, five hits, two walks, and striking out four in seven innings while Kait Mendall took the loss for the Skyhawks.
Game Two
The Panthers were unable to make-up a 4-0 deficit as their rally came up just short, falling 4-2 in the nightcap.
The Skyhawks broke the game open in the third scoring three times to take a 4-0 advantage. Chelsea Stryker scored Stonehill's first run of the inning off of an Adelphi fielding error. Clark's two-run RBI double to left scored Eisenmann and Katy Abarr stretching Stonehill's advantage to 4-0 lead.
Brophy's two-RBI double to left-center in the Panthers' fifth, put Adelphi on the scoreboard cutting Stonehill's lead in half, 4-2. With two-outs in the frame, Adelphi capitalized on a fielding error by Stonehill allowing Noren to reach base. Brophy's double trotted home freshman Heather Salerno and Noren.
Adelphi managed to get the potential tying runs to the plate in both the sixth and seventh innings. In the Panthers' sixth, Stonehill starter Samantha Krantz induced Adelphi senior hurler Christine Robinson to fly out and got Salerno to line out ending the threat with freshman Paige Rhodes on second.
Brophy started Adelphi's rally in the seventh with two-outs as she keeping the game alive with a single. After a long at-bat, Craig passed the baton to freshman Amanda Dolan as she singled up the middle. With Dolan's single, Andrews relieved Krantz as she closed the book on Adelphi's comeback striking out Dolan.
Craig and Eisenmann each led their clubs in game two as Craig batted 3-for-4 for the Panthers while Eisenmann went 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored for Stonehill.
Krantz pitched six and two-third innings of work allowing two runs on seven hits for the win, while Andrews collected the save.
Adelphi wraps up their home schedule with a Northeast-10 conference doubleheader meeting with Bentley University on Sunday, April 25th. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
