The Adelphi University baseball team played host to #10 Kutztown University on Wednesday, April 21 at William J. Bonomo Memorial Field in a non-conference contest. The Panthers trailed 10-0 after two innings and could not recover, falling 20-1. With the loss Adelphi falls to 26-12 overall, while Kutztown improves to 32-9.
All three Kutztown runs in the first inning were scored courtesy of two home runs, the Golden Bears followed that up with seven more runs in the second inning to build a 10-0 lead on the way to a 20-1 victory. A bright spot for the Panthers was the pitching of Teddy Rohrs, who tossed two innings of one hit, six strikeout baseball and Lucas Romeo, who belted a solo home run to put Adelphi on the board in the sixth.
Kutztown's Ryan Cassidy collected the win, throwing five innings of no run, six hit baseball, while Adelphi's Michael Carletti was credited with the loss.
Adelphi returns to action on Thursday, April 22 when they travel to New Haven, Connecticut for a 3:30 pm meeting with Southern Connecticut State.
