Game One|Game Two

The Adelphi University softball team took on Southern New Hampshire this afternoon at Penmen Field. The Panthers fell in game one, 2-1, before shutting out their hosts, 4-0, in the nightcap. Adelphi is now 21-17 overall and 9-9 in the conference, while SNHU is 13-15 and 10-8.
Game One
A solo homerun by Cheney in the bottom of the second put the Penmen up first. Freshman Amanda Dolan knotted the score on a solo blast, her fifth of the season, to centerfield in the top of the fourth. Not to be outdone, Jenkins also hit a homerun in the bottom of the inning for the game-winning run. The Panthers best chance to take the lead came in the top of the sixth, with runners on second and third, but the were unable to score.
Griffin (9-8) recorded the win for SNHU with four hits and one walk, while fanning five. Leighann Bell (8-8) took the loss with six hits, two runs and two strikeouts.
Game Two
The homeruns continued to fly, as senior Rochelle Noren sent one over the fence in the first at bat to put Adelphi up, 1-0. Pinch runner Jacqueline Bellairs stepped in for Dolan in the fourth inning, after she walked to first. Bellairs eventually rounded third on a field error, before coming home on a RBI single by freshman Heather Salerno for the game-winning run.
Adelphi added two insurance runs in the sixth inning. Freshman Amy Ogden singled then advanced to second on a fielding error. A Deandra Leo sac bunt sent her to third and she later scored on a Christine Robinson fielder's choice bunt. Robinson advanced on the throw and brought in the final run on a RBI single by Emily Dorko.
Robinson (10-7) went the distance in the six-hitter, strking out five. Garloff took the loss in two innings pitched for the Penmen.
