Bell; Camarda Lead Panthers To Shut out Sweep at Georgian Court Tourney

Game One|Game Two

Lakewood, N.J. - Freshman Natalie Camarda gave up just two hits in Adelphi's 8-0 win over Bloomfield College, while senior Leighann Bell scattered three in a 2-0 victory over Caldwell College at the Georgian Court Tournament this afternoon. With the sweep, the Panthers improve to 18-14 on the season.

Adelphi was led offensively by freshman Emily Dorko, who hit 4-for-5 with two runs scored and six RBI.

Game One
In the bottom of the second inning, Dolan singled then rounded second and third on consecutive passed balls. She scored on a single by freshman Jeanine Leo for what would prove to be the game-winning run. Freshman Heather Salerno and junior Deandra Leo both reached on walks and with the bases loaded, Dorko blasted a grand slam homerun to push the Panthers' lead to 5-0. Senior Katie Brophy scored on a RBI single by Rhodes to end the inning, 6-0.

In the third inning, Dorko pushed home Salerno, who had singled and advanced to second on a Bloomfield error. The final run came in the fifth inning as Picked up her sixth RBI of the game, scoring pinch runner Jacqueline Bellairs.

Camarda picked up her second win in as many games, giving up just two hits, with one walk and two strikeouts.

Adelphi had eight runs on 11 hits with one error. Bloomfield had no runs on two hits with two errors.

Game Two
Adelphi's fourth meeting of the season with Caldwell proved to be the charm. The Panthers scored in the third inning with Dorko singling to first, then stealing second, before rounding home on a RBI single by Brophy.

In the top of the sixth inning, with two outs on the board, junior Shay Craig added an insurance run with a solo home run.

Bell went the distance for the Panthers allowing three hits, one walk and three strikeouts.

Adelphi had two runs on five hits with no errors. Caldwell had no runs on three htis with no errors.

The Panthers are back in action on Tuesday, April 13, as they travel to Syracuse, New York to take on LeMoyne College in a conference doubleheader.
