Garden City, N.Y. - Junior guard Richard Byrd (Central Islip, N.Y.) and junior Danielle Locurto (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) were selected as Adelphi Athletes of the Week for March 2.

Byrd was named as a second-team All-Northeast-10 selection last week as selected by the conference's coaches. Byrd is ranked seventh in the NE-10 in scoring at 18.9 points per game and is also fifth in free throw percentage (87.1%) and fifth in steals (2.03). In addition his name is already stamped in the Adelphi record books as Byrd is 11th on the career scoring list with 1,413 points.

Locurto helped the Adelphi women's bowling team to the Capital City Classic on the weekend of February 27 and 28. Locurto earned a spot on the All-Tournament team as she finished team play with a 191.00 average which was fourth among all competitors. The Panthers posted a record of 9-1 on the weekend and are 72-38 heading into the ECAC Championships this weekend.
