Game One|Game Two

The Adelphi University softball team travelled to Lakewood, New Jersey to take on the Georgian Court in a non-conference contest. The Lions won both games of the doubleheader, 7-1 and 10-2 (5). The Panthers drop their record to 6-6 overall, while Lions improve to 13-5 on the young season.
Game 1
Georgian Court struck out 14 Adelphi batters allowing one run en route to the 7-1 win over Adelphi.
Leading 2-0 heading in the bottom of the fourth, the Lions doubled their advantage on a two-run blast to left center by senior Chelsea Long.
The Panthers tallied their only run of the game in the top of the fifth as senior Katie Brophy connected with a RBI double to left field scoring senior Rochelle Noren. With two-outs in the top of the frame, Noren singled to right, stole second, and then was driven home by Brophy.
Noren along with freshman Amanda Dolan both went 2-for-4, while Brophy had the lone RBI for Adelphi.
Georgian Court extended their lead back to a four run advantage in the bottom of the fifth, as junior Sammie Joe Garofalo hit a RBI single scoring junior Jess Kimsenskly. Kimsenskly singled to left and stole second to start the Lions' fifth. The next batter Garofalo laced a single that brought Kimsenskly across the plate. Kimsenskly finished game one going 2-for-4, with three runs scored.
Georgian Court widened their margin as they scored their two final runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Senior Christine Robinson took the loss, allowing four runs on five hits in four innings pitched.
Game 2
Georgian Court erupted with a four-run fourth inning sweeping Adelphi in game two, 10-2 in five innings.
Brophy crossed the plate on a RBI sacrifice fly by junior Gina De Titillio, giving Adelphi its only lead of the afternoon. The Panthers lead was short, as the Lions scored two runs in the bottom of the first. Sophomore Rachel Ruch delivered a RBI single and scored in the Lions' two-run third inning. She hit a RBI single scoring Garofalo to put the Lions' up 3-1. Kelsey Cutler would follow with single to left to advance Ruch to third and with one-out Cuter and Ruch successfully stole second and home as Georgian Court went up 4-1.
With one out and the bases loaded, Ruch smashed a base clearing, three-run RBI double to left center stretching Georgian Court's lead to five, 7-2. Ruch went 2-for-2, with four RBI's, and scored three runs to lead Georgian Court.
Adelphi scored their final run of the contest on a RBI sacrifice fly by Noren scoring junior Maria Canino in the top of the fourth inning. Four different Adelphi players accounted for their four hits of the ball game.
Georgian Court hurler Lyndsey PeQueen tossed a complete-game four hitter allowing two runs, while freshman Natalie Camarda took the loss allowing six runs on three hits in 3.1 innings pitched.
Adelphi will take on their former East Coast Conference rivals the Bears of New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury, N.Y. First pitch is slated for 3:00 p.m.
