The Adelphi University men's lacrosse team traveled to Syracuse, New York on Saturday to take on #2 LeMoyne at the Niland Athletic Complex in Northeast-10 action. Adelphi played close for the first quarter, keeping it tied at one, but a 9-0 second quarter by the Dolphins helped sink the Panthers, 11-5. Le Moyne improves to 4-0 on the season, 1-0 in the NE-10, while Adelphi falls to 1-2 in dropping their first ever NE-10 conference game.
Adelphi got on the board first with an unassisted goal from Joe Vitale with 2:36 remaining in the first quarter. The Panthers controlled most of the pace and possessions in the first 15 minutes. However, LeMoyne netted a goal with just 14 seconds left in the first to tie the game at one heading into the second quarter of action.
The momentum switched in the second quarter as Le Moyne held a 21-1 shot advantage and netted nine unanswered goals to take a commanding 10-1 advantage into intermission. Adelphi came out of the locker room and recorded two quick goals by Kevin Kemp and Kevin Kennedy to pull within seven goals at 10-3. But, Le Moyne would hold possession most of the second half, limiting Adelphi's chances and securing a 11-5 win.
Zachary Bates and Devin Schneiderbauer split time in goal for Adelphi, recording 15 saves collectively.
Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, March 27 when they play host to Saint Anselm at 4:00 pm.
