Panther Softball Rolls Past Minnesota State-Moorhead, 11-2

Kissimee, Fl. - The Adelphi University softball team rolled past Minnesota State-Moorhead, 11-2 at the Rebel Games.

In the first inning, senior Rochelle Noren lead off with a walk and stole second base. Senior Katie Brophy singled to left-center, advancing Noren to third base. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Brophy stole second base to put two runners in scoring position. The next pitch was in the dirt and past MSUM's catcher, allowing the speedy Noren to score. The Dragon right-hander, Litzer would retire the next two hitters via strike out before Adelphi was able to put together a 2-out rally which resulted in three more runs.

In the second inning, with one out and bases loaded, junior catcher Deandra Leo earned a walk which allowed Brophy to cross the plate for the fourth run of the game.

The next chance to score came in the fourth inning, as Noren was again walked and then stole second for her third stolen base of the game. Brophy also earned the free ride to 1st base. Shay Craig ripped her first hit of the game just past the outstretched glove of the MSUM shortstop and again bases were loaded with no outs. Freshman Amanda Dolan hit a RBI single. With the bases remaining loaded, Leo earned her second RBI of the game with a walk. Jackie Grant was able to push the 8th run of the game across the plate with a single to shallow right field.

MSUM was able to avoid the mercy rule by putting together a 2-run rally in the bottom of the fith inning, pushing the game the distance.

Then in the seventh inning, with two outs,Noren reached base for the fourth time in the game on a walk and advanced to second on a passed ball. Junior left fielder Gina DeTillio launched a double over the head of the Dragon left fielder, scoring Noren. Craig kept the 2-out rally going with a single of her own before Dolan cleared the bases with a double to dead center, 11-2.
