Softball Upends Augustana; Falls To Wayne State

March 18, 2010

Game One|Game Two

Kissimee, FL - Adelphi University went 1-1 in its final day of the Rebel Games, shutting out #22 ranked Augustana (SD), before falling to Wayne State, 2-1. The Panthers return home with a 6-4 overall record.

Game One
Adelphi's Christine Robinson locked up in a pitcher's duel with Augustana's Britt Stewart. Both pitchers allowed only four hits. However, Adelphi was the team that was able to captilize on them, handing the Vikings (13-1) their first loss of the season.

In the second Gina DeTillio singled with two outs. Heather Salerno followed with a double down the left-field line that scored DeTilliio.

Then in the fourth, Adelphi added an insurance run. Robinson helped her cause with a double. After doubling to lead off the inning, she was sacrificed to third and scored on a ground out.

Augustana couldn't get its offense going as the Vikings managed to get just one runner to third base, and that came with two outs in the fourth inning.

The Panthers return to action on Wednesday, March 24, as they travel to Georgian Court for a non-conference double-header beginning at 2:30 p.m.
