Volleyball Shuts Down Southern New Hampshire in Season Finale, 3-1

Manchester, NH - The Adelphi University volleyball team closed out it's 2010 regular season in Manchester, New Hampshire against Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday, November 6. The Panthers won the match, 3-1 as attack errors haunted the Penmen all afternoon. With the win Adelphi finishes the regular season, 18-10 overall and 11-4 in Northeast-10 play, while SNHU falls to 10-14 and 6-9 in conference action.

The Panthers won games one and two, 25-22 and 25-18 thanks to attack percentages of .118 and .393, while the Penmen hit at clip of .045 and .074 with 18 total errors. However, SNHU came alive in set three, taking a 26-24 win to force a fourth set courtesy of 19 kills. Adelphi responded by limiting the Penmen to just eight kills in the final set and producing 13 of their own to take the victory, 25-16.

Hilary Pavels led the way in her final regular season game for the Panthers with 14 kills and 14 digs, while Chelsea Overholt had eight kills and Patawe Simms, Emily Dorko and Colleen Raga managed seven kills each. Both Heather Mau and Bree Popham posted 15 digs and Katie Bryson had a team-high 33 assists.

Adelphi will return to action on Tuesday, November 9 when they play host to Bentley University in the first round of the Northeast-10 Tournament. The Panthers locked up the third seed courtesy of a tie breaker with Pace (the second seed) and Stonehill (the fourth seed).
