The Adelphi University volleyball team traveled to Rindge, New Hampshire on Friday, November 5 to take on Franklin Pierce on day one of their season ending road trip. The Panthers jumped out to a 2-0 lead and then closed it out in set four, to collect the 3-1 victory. With the win Adelphi improves to 17-10 overall and 10-4 in the Northeast-10, while Franklin Pierce falls to 10-12 overall and 4-10 in conference action.
Adelphi took set one, 25-16 on the strength of 14 kills, six more then the Ravens, and a .333 attack percentage, while the hosts posted a percentage of just 0.28. The Panthers won set two by the same score as game one, 25-16 and posted the same attack percentage, while Franklin Pierce hit, -.026.
The Ravens managed to stay alive with a close, 25-23 victory in game three as they posted 16 kills to just 11 for Adelphi. But, the Panthers bounced back in set four posting their highest attack percentage of the game, 0.378, and 16 kills of their own to collect a 25-15 win.
Emily Dorko and Chelsea Overholt led the offense with 12 kills each, while Patawe Simms and Colleen Raga added nine each. Both Hilary Pavels and Bree Popham paced the defense with 19 digs each, while Alexandra Kahen chipped in 15 and Heather Mau led all players with 46 assists.
Adelphi will return to action on Saturday, November 6 when they travel to Manchester, New Hampshire for a 1:00 pm meeting with Southern New Hampshire.
