The Panthers struck early and fast, 5:49 into the contest, when sophomore Kaitlin Monteith beat a Ravens defender down the left side to give Adelphi a 1-0 lead. Franklin Pierce held a 10-6 advantage in shots headed into halftime, while Adelphi held a 2-1 edge in corner kicks.
Both teams remained aggressive throughout the second half. The Panthers had two opportunities in the second half to take a three-goal lead but Jocelyn Leon came up with two huge diving saves to keep the Panther lead at 2-0.
Franklin Pierce nearly broke the shut out late in the second half as there was a scramble in front of the net but senior defender Kristen Dexter made a tremendous play by blocking a Raven's shot and preventing a goal.
