Volleyball Stopped by the Setters, 3-1

Pleasantville, N.Y. - The Adelphi University volleyball team traveled to Pleasantville, New York for a 7:00 pm Northeast-10 Conference meeting with Pace University. The Panthers fell behind, 1-0 but battled back to tie the game and had a 25-24 lead in game three but fell, 27-25 on the way to a 3-1 loss. With the defeat Adelphi falls to 9-6 overall and 5-1 in the NE-10, while Pace improves to 11-5 and 4-2 in conference action.

Pace managed too take game one, 25-19 on the strength of 17 kills, while Adelphi produced just 13. The second game went the other way as the Panthers out killed Pace, 14-10 and had two blocks in a 25-22 win.

The third game was a back and forth affair and saw Adelphi take a 25-24 lead before Pace rattled off three straight points to steal a 27-25 win. The fourth and what would be final game was a 25-21 Pace victory, despite Adelphi winning the offensive battle with 15 kills, compared to 11 for the Setters.

Both Samantha Rico and Chelsea Overholt had 13 kills, while Hilary Pavels added 12. Pavels also had a team-high 20 digs, while Heather Mau also reached double figures with 14. Katie Bryson had a career-high in assists, going over 40 for the first time with 43 and had a team-high three service aces.

Adelphi returns to action on Friday, October 8 when they travel to Brookville, New York for a battle with cross-town rival C.W. Post.
