Senior OH Hilary Pavels compiled 10 kills and 14 digs as Adelphi University defeated UMass Lowell, 3-0 (25-18, 25-13, 27-25) Friday night in a Northeast-10 Conference volleyball clash at the Costello Athletic Center.
Adelphi improved to 15-9 overall and 9-3 in the Conference and visits Merrimack Saturday at 1:00 pm. The loss halted a three-match win streak for the River Hawks, who slipped to 12-10 overall and 7-5 in the NE-10 entering Saturday's home match against Pace University (1:00).
In addition to Pavels strong game, Samantha Rico had seven kills, while Alexandra Kahen and Heather Mau had 10 digs each and Mau added a game-high 23 assists.
The Panthers posted attack percentages of .115 and .154 in the first two games, while the host Riverhawks hit for a negative percentage in both sets, dropping them to Adelphi 25-18 and 25-13. The third set went to extra points as Adelphi collected a 27-25 win on the strength of 16 kills.
