The Adelphi University women's soccer team fell to LeMoyne College, 1-0, in a conference make-up contest played this afternoon at the College of Saint Rose. The Dolphins improve to 7-6-2 and 5-6-2 in league play, while the Panthers fall to 7-6-1 and 7-6 in the conference.
Sophomore Gabriele Ariola tallied the game-winner in the 25th minute, picking up her rebounded shot and sailing the shot just out of reach of junior goalkeeper Dorothy Connolly.
In the second half, the Panthers recorded nine shots to Le Moyne's two, including the first six of the half, but could not find the back of the net. Adelphi's best scoring chance came in the 78th minute on a shot by senior Brianne McDonnell, but LeMoyne's Felicia Tynan was able to push the ball over the crossbar.
Connolly recorded three saves for the Panthers, while Tynan made six stops for the Dolphins.
Adelphi returns to action this Saturday, October 23, for its regular season finale against Saint Anselm College at 12 noon. Prior to the start of the game, the Panthers will recognize their senior class.
