The Adelphi University volleyball team played host to Northeast-10 Conference opponent St. Michael's College during Homecoming weekend on Saturday, October 2. The visiting Purple Knights fought hard in games one and three, but the Panthers would not be denied, winning, 3-0. With the victory Adelphi is now 9-5 overall and 5-0 in NE-10 play, while St. Michael's falls to 7-7 overall and 3-3 in conference action.
The visitors actually put up a better attack percentage in game one, but the Panthers posted 15 kills, to just seven for the Purple Knights, taking the game 25-21. Adelphi found their offensive stride in game two, committing just five attack errors on the way to an attack percentage of .259 in a 25-17 victory. Game three was hard fought as again St. Michael's posted a better attack percentage (.167 to .111), but again Adelphi won the war of kills, 15-9, collecting a 25-22 win.
Patawe Simms led the way with 11 kills for the Panthers as Hilary Pavels chipped in 10 to go along with 12 digs. Bree Popham had a game-high 14 digs and Alexandra Kahen added 12 with Katie Bryson leading Adelphi in assists with 17.
Adelphi returns to action on Wednesday, September 6 when they travel to Pleasantville, New York to try and reverse an early season loss to Pace.
