Lowell, Mass. - Junior Brianne McDonnell tallied both goals in Adelphi's 2-0 conference victory over UMass-Lowell this afternoon at Cushing Field. The Panthers extend their season start to 3-0 and 2-0 in Northeast-10 play, while the Riverhawks fall to 1-1.

McDonnell recorded her second goal of the season and the game-winner at 29:43, on a feed from junior Kim Volinski to put Adelphi on the board.

Just 18 seconds into the second half, McDonnell headed the ball into the net on an assist from senior Caitlin Morrison to put the Panthers up, 2-0.

The Riverhawks held a slight 9-8 shot advantage over the Panthers, with both teams getting off two shots on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Dorothy Connolly made both stops to perserve the shutout win.

The Panthers return to action on Monday, September 7, as they host The College of Saint Rose at 1:00 p.m. on Competition Field. In their last meeting in 2008, the Panthers fell to the Golden Knights, 1-0.
