Women's Tennis Picks Up Two Wins, 7-2 Over New Haven And 6-3 Against Dowling

The Adelphi University women's tennis team picked up two victories over the weekend to improve to 4-0 and 2-0 in the Northeast-10. On Friday, the Panthers defeated the University of New Haven, 7-2. The following day they defeated former ECC-rival Dowling College, 6-3.

In the 7-2 conference win over the Chargers, The Panthers dropped one match in singles and doubles play. Junior Alda Ribeiro and freshman Maria Toft collected victories at #1 and #2 singles, respectively, while also cruising to an 8-0 victory in their #1 doubles match. Sophomore Carolyn Smith and junior Megan Margino also posted an 8-0  #3 doubles victory, while Smith won at #3 singles (6-2, 6-3).

The following day the Panthers returned home to defeat Dowling College, 6-3. The team of Ribeiro and Toft collected another win at #1 doubles, besting Tamiris Disersi and Christina Hoffman, 8-3. Toft also earned a victory at #1 singles, going undefeated over the weekend in both singles and doubles play. Smith and Margino recorded an 8-1 victory at #3 doubles, while Margino won at #5 singles (6-2, 6-0).

The Panthers return to action on Saturday, October 3 when they play host to NE-10 opponent The College of Saint Rose at 12:00 pm.
