Field Hockey Wins Fourth Straight, 4-1 Over Saint Michael's

The Adelphi University field hockey team traveled to Colchester, Vermont to take on Saint Michael's College this afternoon. The Panthers received a goal from four different players for the win. The Panthers improve to 7-3, 2-0 in the Northeast-10, while the Purple Knights drop to 2-9 and 0-3 in league play.

It was almost a scoreless first half until the 31:07 mark when freshman Cassie Cabral scored an unassisted goal for her second goal in as many days. The Panthers went into the half with the edge in shots and penalty corners, 5-3 and 5-0, respectively.

Just over 10 minutes into the second half, sophomore Brittany Kinsley found the back of the net for her third score of the season, giving the Panthers a comfortable two-goal lead. Less than two minutes after Kinsley's tally, sophomore Jeanette Heimerle added to the Panthers' lead with an unassisted goal. Adelphi would add their fourth and final goal at 50:09, when Kinsley found classmate Crystal Gray for her third score of the season. The Purple Knights would get on the board 2:45 after Gray's goal, when Laura Heil setup Kaitilin Koffink to prevent the shutout.

Sophomore Lucia Vigliotti set aside two shots in the victory, while Meghan McLaughlin stopped four shots for the Purple Knights.

The Panthers return to action on Wednesday, September 30 when they travel to West Haven, Connecticut to take on the Owls of Southern Connecticut State University at 4:00 pm.
