Field Hockey Blanks Saint Anselm, 4-0

The Adelphi University field hockey team traveled to Manchester, New Hampshire to take on Saint Anselm College this afternoon. Sophomore Julianne Gerbino continued her scoring streak with two goals in the win. Adelphi improves to 6-3 overall and 1-0 in the Northeast-10, while Saint Anselm falls to 1-9 and 0-3 in the league.

The Panthers opened the scoring early, 6:07 in, when Gerbino scored her first of two unassisted goals. The sophomore's second tally came 5:07 after her first score to give the Panthers a two-goal lead. Gerbino has found the back of the net 11 times so far this season. The Panthers' third goal came from freshman Cassie Cabral, her first score of the season, at the 24:35 mark. Adelphi took a 10-0 shot advantage into the half, as well as a 5-0 advantge in penalty corners.

At 43:54, sophomore Brittany Kinsley would score an unassisted goal for the fourth and final goal. The Panthers held the Hawks to just one shot for the game, while getting off 15 of their own.

Sophomore Lucia Vigliotti stopped the only shot she faced, while Megan Sullivan recorded five saves in defeat.

The Panthers return to action tomorrow when they take on the Purple Knights of Saint Michael's College at 1:00 pm in Colchester, Vermont.
