Field Hockey Blanks Slippery Rock, 3-0

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University field hockey team played host to Slippery Rock University on Sunday, September 20 in a non-conference match-up on Competition Field. The Panthers scored three goals in a span of 15 minutes in the first frame and held on for the 3-0 victory. With the win Adelphi moves above the .500 mark at 4-3, while the Slippery Rock falls to 1-6.

Cyrstal Gray got the Panthers rolling as a Brittany Kinsley stroked a corner to a waiting Jeanette Heimerle. Heimerle redirected the ball to Gray, who beat Slippery Rock keeper, Lisa Belcastro, for Adelphi's first score. Just over seven minutes later Natasha Pedzik struck, taking a Julianne Gerbino feed and slipping the ball past Belcastro to move the Panther lead to 2-0.

Adelphi's final tally came in the 29th minute as Pedzik notched her second goal of the game. This time she hooked up with Cassie Cabrel for the tally, giving the Panthers a 3- 0 edge at the half. The second half saw Lucia Vigliotti come up with some big saves to keep the shut out alive, making five stops in the win.

Adelphi will return to action on September 23 when they play host to C.W. Post at 5:00 pm on Competition Field.
