Field Hockey Captures First Win Of Season, 2-1 Over Assumption

The Adelphi University field hockey team traveled to take on Assumption College in its first Northeast-10 Conference game of the season. With the score tied at one at the half, junior Natasha Pedzik provided an unassisted game-winning goal in the 56th minute to secure the win. The Panthers and the Greyhounds both stand at 1-1.

The Panthers got on the board first, 24:39 into the first half, when sophomore Laura Stafford netted an unassisted goal for her first of the season. The Greyhounds would answer back, less than nine minutes later, when Hillary Zisk setup Alexi Maxfield for the game-tying score.

Adelphi took a one-shot advantage into the half as well as a one-penalty corner advantage, 5-4 and 6-5, respectively. The Panthers would then control the tempo throughout the second half. They would outshoot Assumption 9-1, while taking 11 more penalty corners.

Sophomore Lucia Vigliotti set aside three shots in the win. For Assumption, Danielle Luongo recorded six saves in defeat.

The Panthers return to action on Saturday, September 5 as they play host to NE-10 opponent Bentley University at 1:00 pm on Competition Field.
