Volleyball Wins Four at East Stroudsburg Tournament

East Stroudsburg, PA - The Adelphi Unversity volleyball team traveled to East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania on Friday September 11 and Saturday September 12 to compete in the East Stroudsburg Tournament. The Panthers dropped just two games all weekend, winning four matches and improving to 7-5 overall.

On Friday the Panthers faced off against Holy Family in the first game of the evening, picking up a 3-0 win thanks to games of 25-9, 25-16, 25-17. Hilary Pavels led the Panther attack with eight kills and also had nine digs, while Heather Mau and Alexandra Kahen posted 13 and 12 digs each.

In their second game of the night Adelphi took on host East Stroudsburg, trailing by one game the Panther roared back and collected a 3-1 win, 22-25, 25-18, 25-19, 25-20. Pavels had her second straight strong game, posting 13 kills and 17 digs, while Patawe Simms had 10 kills. Mau also chipped in 36 assists and both Amy Williams and Bree Popham had 13 digs.

Adelphi opened against Caldwell on Saturday, sweeping the Cougars, 3-0, 25-11, 25-17 and 25-8. Both Kelsey Hackett and Pavels posted seven kills, while Pavels added 14 digs and Erika Loomer had 20 assists.

The Panthers closed out the two-day event against Northeast-10 opponent St. Rose, picking up a 3-1 win, 25-18, 25-19, 18-25 and 25-23. Pavels again led the way with 10 kills and 18 digs, while Audrey Goss also reached double digit kills with 10. Popham led the team with 24 digs and Williams posted 13 digs.

Adelphi returns to action on Tuesday, September 15 when they play host to C.W. Post at 7:00 pm in Garden City, New York.
