Women's Soccer Tops Saint Michael's, 1-0

Garden City, N.Y. - Senior Cailtin Morrison tallied the lone goal in the first half of play to help Adelphi University to a 1-0 victory over visiting Saint Michael's College this afternoon at Competition Field. The Panthers improve to 4-1 and 3-1 in the Northeast-10, while the Purple Knights fall to 1-4 and 0-2 in league action.

Morrison's goal came in the 28th minute on a feed from junior Brianne McDonnell that she chipped past the Saint Michael's goalie into the back of the net. The Panthers held a 7-1 shot advantage in the first half.

Midfield action continued into the second half, with Adelphi holding a 10-5 shot advantage. The Panthers had five corner kicks, compared with just two for the Purple Knights.

Adelphi's defense was strong, allowing Saint Michael's just three shots on goal in the contest, with each stopped by sophomore goalie, Dorothy Connolly. Ashleigh Adams made 10 saves for the Purple Knights.

The Panthers return to action on Tuesday, September 16, when they play host to Pace University at 6:00 p.m.
