The Adelphi University field hockey team traveled to Rindge, New Hampshire to take on Franklin Pierce University this afternoon. The Panthers escaped with the victory, 1-0. The win improves Adelphi to 3-2, while Franklin Pierce falls to 1-4.

The lone goal of the game came from sophomore Julianne Gerbino with 11:20 remaining in regulation, which was set up by classmate Jeanette Heimerle. Gerbino's score was her eighth tally of the season.

 Franklin Pierce ended the game with a 17-13 advantage in shots and an 8-7 advantage in penalty corners.

Sophomore Lucia Vigliotti recorded nine saves en route to her first shutout of the season. Brittany Nyzio stopped eight shots in net in defeat.

The Panthers return to action on Saturday, September 19 when they play host to Merrimack College at 1:00 pm on Competition Field.
