The Adelphi University men's soccer team traveled to Providence, Rhode Island to compete in the Brown Invitational on Friday, September 11, playing Yale on the first day of action. Alex Kouznetsov cashed in a penalty kick in the second half, but Yale responded with a tally of their own to tie the game at one. With the tie Adelphi sits at 1-0-2, while Yale remains winless at 0-0-2.
Both teams played even in the first half as Adelphi's Kyle Blackmer and Yale's Travis Chulick were forced to make just one save each. However, the action heated up in the second half as Adelphi was awarded a penalty kick just 54 seconds into play.
Kouznetsov converted the kick, slotting the ball past Chulick into the lower left corner, giving the Panthers a 1-0 lead. In the 62nd minute of action Yale's Brad Rose knotted the game at one as he collected a cross from Charlie Neil and put it into the upper left corner of the Adelphi goal.
The game was called due to extreme weather just 13 minutes later, ending the action in a 1-1 tie. Blackmer made five saves in his first collegiate start, while Chulick picked up two.
Adelphi returns to action on Sunday, September 13 when they play host Brown at 2:30 pm in Providence, Rhode Island.
