Garden City, N.Y. - The #1 Adelphi University women's lacrosse team opened on a 11-7 run and never looked back as they defeated the University of New Haven, 18-6, in a non-conference match-up tonight at Competition Field. But UNH answered to make it a 4-2 game with 19:52 remaining in the half. Ray added a goal and another assist in a 3-0 run capped by a goal by sophomore Kaitlyn Carter, 7-2. The Chargers scored again before Vanessa Sotcheff registered two of the next three Panther goals to open the lead, 10-3, at 6:42. UNH snuck in one more goal but Staudt had the last word, picking up her second goal with 10 seconds to go before intermission.

Mangone scored again for UNH to open the second half. Devito collected two of her four goals in a 6-0 Adelphi run to surge ahead, 17-5. Caroline Marrero found the back of the net for the second time for the Chargers with 4:28 left in regulation. Sophomore Nicole Bass combined with Ray to tally the final goal of the contest in the 59th minute.

Junior Caitlin Fitzpatrick made six stops in goal for the Panthers. Maureen Spellman also had six saves for New Haven.

Adelphi riddled the UNH goal with 44 shots in the game, while holding its opponent to just 16. Both teams managed 13 draw controls, but the Panthers were able to convert 5-of-10 free position attempts into goals compared with 1-of-6 for the Chargers.
