Paccione's Bat Drives In Three For The Victory Over Setters

Garden City, NY - Senior Robert Paccione led the Panthers to a 7-1 victory over the visiting Pace University Setters, batting in three runs. Adelphi combined for 12 hits in the winning effort and moved their record to 24-12 overall and 14-6 in the East Coast Conference (ECC). With the loss, the Setters leave at 18-26-1.

The Panthers went to work immediately against Pace, retiring their side, and then putting one on the board on a Ryan Boelsen ground out to second, which drove in Robert Paccione.

The game became tied one all in the top of the third when Pace scored off a RBI double. Adelphi answered that run with one of their own on a Justin Ciamillo single, which drove Matthew Kenny across the plate. Now up 2-1 going into the bottom of the fourth, Adelphi added three security runs. Mike Tobia RBI'ed Chris Weidlein on a single to right field, while a Mike Colonna walk, and an Anthony Bonomo hit-by-pitch had the bases juiced for Paccione. The senior delievered with a single to centerfield, driving in two more.

Adelphi added two more in the bottom of the sixth; first on a Colonna triple, driving in Tobia and then on a Paccione fly out, scoring Colonna. The scoreboard would hold at 7-1 in the Panthers' advantage.

Jason Intelisano went 5.2 innings in the winning effort, striking out four, on five hits and was charged with one run. The starter was assisted by John Arciuolo, Teddy Rohrs and Salvatore Persico, who each pitched an inning of relief.

The Panthers will come back to life when they travel to Oakdale, New York to face Dowling College in the final game of the series on April 29. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
