Game One|Game Two

Senior Angela Martin tagged out Ashley Gosk in the bottom of the seventh inning, preserved the 4-3 Adelphi victory against New York Institute of Technology and locked up the number-2 seed for the Panthers in the upcoming double-elimination East Coast Conference Tournament that begins on Wednesday, April 29. The Panthers coasted to an 11-2 win in the nightcap. With the sweep, Adelphi improves to a 32-12 overall record, 14-4 in ECC play while the NYIT falls to a 34-23-1 overall record, 11-7 in conference play.
Game One
With two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning and Gosk on second, sophomore Marissa Brucculeri beat out a single to Vogt. Gosk advanced to the third on the single and was given the green light to head home to potentially tie the contest. Senior Christina O'Hara sharp awareness saw Gosk heading home and threw a bullet to Martin. Martin applied the tag on a sliding Gosk to deter the Bears comeback as Adelphi won 4-3 in the opening game.
The Panthers put a three spot in the top of the third inning to extend their lead to 4-0. With one out in the frame, five consecutive Adelphi batters successfully reached base as three runners crossed the plate. Senior Diana DiPiano hit a RBI single to left field to bring home Johnston from third. With the bases full of Panthers, sophomore Stephanie Byster delivered the game-winning RBI single right over the NYIT's short-stop head adding to Adelphi's lead, 4-0.
Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the second inning, junior Christine Robinson managed to get in and out of trouble with the bases loaded for NYIT. With one out in the stanza, senior Jessica Vogt charged the ball and threw to Martin to get Gosk out at home as Robinson struck out senior Lia Laura looking to end the threat.
Sophomore Leighann Bell picked up the win going 3.1 IP, allowed eight hits, three runs, two earned, and struck out six. Byster and DiPiano both went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI's each.
Game Two
The Panthers scored four times in the top of the second inning to spark the 11-2 win over the Bears in the nightcap in six innings. The game was called after the sixth inning due to the eight-run rule
Adelphi led 1-0 in the top of the second inning, when senior Samantha Johnston hit a RBI single up the middle to score junior Katie Brophy from third. After junior Rochelle Noren singled threw the right side to advance Johnston to second, senior Jessica Vogt hit a two-run RBI triple hitting a bullet to straight away center field, to extend the Panthers lead to 4-0. Senior Diana DiPiano joined the action as she hit a RBI double to center to score Vogt giving Adelphi a 5-0 lead.
O'Hara's RBI double to right center in the top of the fourth inning put the game out of reach as Adelphi took a 8-0 advantage.
Sophomore Melissa Romeo notched the win going 3.2 IP, allowed four hits and allowed one earned run. Johnston went 2-for-5 leading Adelphi with 3 RBI's in the nightcap.
The Panthers first game of the tournament, which will take place on the campus of NYIT, will be on Friday, May 1 at 9:00 a.m. They will take on the winner of the #6 Queens College vs. #3 C.W. Post play-in game scheduled for April 29 at 3:00 p.m.
